Brazilian tennis player takes her career to college

(3/20/24) 'From being ranked as the second highest player in Brazil to the United States and many places in between, freshman tennis player Carolina Laydner takes on a new challenge in her long tennis career — college sports.

For as long as she can remember, tennis has been Laydner’s life. Her family is very big on sports, with her brother being a tennis player and her father being her coach most of her life. It was almost love at first sight when she picked up a racket.

Volleyball to open season playing at Super Pit for first time in 55 years

(8/29/24) 'Coming off North Texas volleyball’s fourth-ever postseason berth that led them to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship, the Mean Green will open their season in a historic fashion, hosting the first NCAA-sanctioned volleyball games ever held at the Super Pit Arena.

North Texas had a 4-4 record at the arena while playing as a member of the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women. The team’s last match at the Super Pit was held on Sept. 15, 1979...'

(11/10/24) 'Senior distance runner Tiblets Abreha left Eritrea, Africa with nothing but her own two legs and a dream.

As early as 10-years-old, Abreha felt she had to escape her village. She said all her life, she grew up walking to her school an hour and a half away on foot without water or electricity.
